Preparation

Martha and Mary....

It is inevitable that in this mad rush during the Christmas season, we feel a shortness of breathe sprinting from one christmas activity (light-up) to another Christmas activity (carolling) to another christmas activity (christmas mass). I think all the Marys in the world will inevitably become Marthas !

Well there is a time to be Martha, ie, all the above mentioned activities.
And there is a time to be Mary.

I was blissfully in slumberland, having downed 2 glasses of potent 13% alcohol RED WINE at my regular family friday night happy hour.
Then an sms come through at 1am.....
I read it through half-glazed, spec-less, droopy eyes....
Then back to zzzzz.....

Must be a mixture of 'spirits'...haha....
Woke up next morning with a very strong thought that is worth sharing here:

DO CANTORS PRAY THE RESPONSARIAL PSALM BEFORE THEY CANTOR?

Interesting....
come, lord, and save us. x2

How easy to say that like an actor acting out his lines.
Yet taken into our own personal salvation history...
Or even our meagre understanding of God's plan for the salvation history of the millions that went before, now, and to come....
That line is not so simple anymore.
.....reminds me of another line said during Easter, "Jesus is the alpha and the omega; the beginning and the end".

The 3 verses go on to proclaim all the wonderful works that Jesus did.

The Gospel acclamation reads:
The spirit of the lord has be given to me. He has sent me to bring good news to the poor.

ME=Jesus
ME=me the cantor proclaiming those lines
ME=me, every single individual sitting in the congregation
ME=me, the writer sharing my contemplations having awoken from my intoxicated and spirit-filled slumber....it is now past noon the next day and I am sober when I write this:-)

****
I think I'll play it with more fervor today.
Hope the cantor will sing it equally fervantly.
Which goes to add....

ALL CANTORS MUST PRACTISE BEFORE THEY CANTOR.
Better still,
ALL CANTORS MUST PRAY WHAT THEY CANTOR BEFORE THEY CANTOR.

.....Which reminds me of another line from The Animal Farm.....nevermind.....
