Theology of the Body
2 more weeks left. This course was offered at the Church of St. Teresa. Run as a series of videos by Christopher West. The topic dissects Pope John Paul II Humanae Vitae.
In a nutshell, it tries to answer what is this life all about, and where are we heading. Again and again, we are reminded "we are made in God's image, Man and Woman". Our sexuality is not just 'sex' the verb, but sex the noun: male and female, God created us. And in the imprint of God into our sexuality, we see how beautiful God intended the spousal union to be. The earthly marriage between man and woman is a sacrament, it points to the heavenly marriage of the Lamb, which all of us are called to.
Many parents and catachists in my small group thinks that it would be good to have the teen version of this programme run at the parish level for teens during catechism.
We always need good role models:
At the crux of it all, we have good religious, singles and married couples who LIVE their life in accordance to God's original plan.
What is lust?
What is love?
Even marriage is not legitimate grounds for lust?
Fornication, pre-marital sex in the secular world is invading the world of the teens and working adults. Its prevalence definitely runs counter to the teachings of the Church and the bible. Watch any movie today, and the attitudes of dating is confusing to any teen and young adult.
What are my thoughts on this workshop, Theology of the Body?
If God already matters in your life, you'd already know all this already.
If God matters in your life, you'd already have decided to live out your life according to the teachings of the bible, of the church.
Maybe it is more a reaffirmation. So that in living out and applying what is taught in the sessions, we become the 'light' and the 'salt' and walking bibles to others that never knew God.
