LENT

Fasting, Prayers and Almsgiving....
Each year I try afresh to enter lent more prayerfully so that my life can resurrect on Easter.
Lent allows me to recharge my soul.

Ash Wednesday started really dramatically for me because my house was literally struck by lightning, which took away the 'lives' of all 3 television sets. One minute they were alive; and next minute, they were dead. Zip, Zilch....beyond resurrection, even after my father went to buy spare parts to replace the zapped out parts. DEAD as a doornail. They were beyond repair.

Why do we need so many tvs?
One for the living room, one for the kitchen, and one for the master bedroom.
One for watching ockto, one for channel 5 and one for channel 8.....and we do not even have cable tv.
One for the kids, one for father, and one for mother.....if we were to have one tv per head, we'd need even more.

I wasn't the only one with so many tvs under one roof. A certain dentist can outnumber mine anytime because his house has 2 stories!!!!

And we are not cutting back either....
Sad to say, I have been tasked to replace living room tv, sis to replace the master bedroom tv, and mom to replace the kitchen tv.

And so there goes that $880 diamond earrings I saw last friday (not a need but a want) and the $1080 LV neverfull bag (a want, a dream but almost a need).....and now there is the greater immediate need of buying a new tv for the living room.

*****
You know, after watching that highly acclaimed IT movie for the moment, Slumdog millionaire, having so many TV seems so gluttony!

BUT....
and there is always a but, in my own place I only have one small tv....hehe.

*****
SIN....
There was a blurp on today's newspaper about being guided by one's own set of morals, rather than some 'archaic' set of 7 deadly sins ala sloth, gluttony....etc.
It is like Fr. Erbin's sermon yesterday. How people today deny a spiritual realm. They only reason. Everything can be explained ala scientifically.
There is no faith. There is no God.
Only the EGO....the self....centre of the universe!!!!!

Spiritual guidance and growth....
I thought the reflection on 'surrendering' was a beautiful start to Lent.
I look forward to more reflections ahead.

sin of omission....
So the youth in front of me is playing computer games on his handphone as father delivers his sermon.
Do I open mouth or keep big mouth shut?
The lady next to me decided to keep her mouth shut.
I cannot stand it anymore, so I open mouth...."are you going to listen to the sermon?"
hmmm.....
I rather answer to GOD.
