10th ordinary sunday

I went and sit with my mom today since she was attending this mass and I did not have to play until the final hymn.

Some observation:
  • You know how we have the men sing, then the women sing....lalala....? Well from the congregation, we really couldn't tell. The congregation just sang throughout.
  • There is not enough omph...to come let us sing for joy & canticle of the sun.
  • The psalm was nice but would be better if it was less complicated, and the high note not be put at 'to'. I am seeing it from the technical point of a music teacher.
  • The singing was prayerful and mostly beautiful and aided in the mass worship without distracting too much.

Just to walk the talk, I did an experiment and was able to post a simple responsorial psalm. I attended a workshop in the past and it mentioned that psalms should be kept simple so that the congregation gets it. If the choir takes 2 to 3 times of repetition to learn it, it is too complicated. I think it was Christopher Walker that said that.
