Recently a friend shared with me that in a marriage relationship, it is good to have Alzeimer's disease. Forget, forget, forget.....haha.
Frustration #1
People send sms to cow mommy on Sat morning saying they are not coming to choir because tada tada tada.....
I remember reading an article about ministry vs volunteerism. I think you can google for it.
The spiritual aspect of why I am in choir must be there.
Frustration #2
"You don't like to play ha?"
No, it is important to have more than one organist. Most organist have been playing for more than 10 years now. Ditto JO and JP in the other choirs.
Nothing to do with like or don't like. Playing is a calling.
I guess if you pray about it, you adopt an attitude of 'yes lord, here I am!'.
It is not.....I like to play, I like to conduct, I like to sing, I like so and so, I like the group......hmmm.
Suggestions like, we need to rope in more people to play, conduct, cantor, etc.
Er.....that is not the point.
Having someone up there to wave the hand about is NOT conducting.
Conducting is steering the singing, the choir, the music to a desired musical effect.
If you listen closely to instructions, suggestions like loud, soft, majestic.....etc are given to the choir......so the conductor tries to bring out those effects....not just madly waving the hands about.

Anyway, I remember one feedback that we had was 'no need to be perfect'.
hmmmm......
Recently there seems to be a conflict between people who are very committed and people who are lackadaisical.
Some think, like that Ok liao.
Some think, that is FAR FROM OK.
Some people like to do things at the last minute.
Some people need to plan.
So the lackadaisical people are stressing the committed folks.
The last minute folks are stressing the planners.
hmmmmm.....
****
So how?
If you look at any FAMILY.
The parents must communicate....then steer the family together.
Everyone chips in a bit here, a bit there.
Hey, you live in the same house, you better do your part.....be it washing the dishes or sweeping the floor.
I know that if I go out on Saturday, I complete my chores before I leave the house. So everyone holds their own part and things get done.
And I suppose it is the same with choir.
If everyone think about what is the role that they are playing, and do that well....there will be fewer frustrations.
Frustration #3
Please appreciate the coffee, cookies, water melon that appears at the table during break time.
TRY TO KEEP THE TABLE CLEAN.
THROW AWAY YOUR RUBBISH.
If you dirty the place, clean up your mess.
If you don't clean it up, ants will come.
Plus, do you observe, who cleans up the mess?
Next time please say thank you to that oh-my-darling.
Frustration #4
If you are early....kindly lend a hand to lay out the chairs in the practise room.
OK?????
And if you are early....notice who lays out those chairs in neat rows before you walk in to practise in the room.
NEAT ROWS OF CHAIRS DO NOT MAGICALLY HAPPEN!!!
****
Ok....end of frustration for now:-)
Oh....they are not all mine....but a collective pile up of everybody's PMS
