Enlightened

Well we finally got that little self reflecting exercise done.
It is good to see imputs from the vocal youths; and the boh sia youths continued their boh sia presence.....then again, "no news is good news??"

Practise time
We had conflicting views on whether practise time was too long or too short.
Haha....but I think we were unanimous about wanting more 'talking time'!!

Fun
Keep things light; no need to be so perfect; la la la
I don't know, personally I don't need to go to church to be entertained or to have fun. Maybe I just have a more 'serious' personality. Tardiness, not bringing scores, absentism, chopping seats....blah blah blah....the people who don't have that problem just don't have that problem.
I'd rather do things properly and do it well. Cannot imagine singing sloppily or playing sloppily and think that I am worshipping properly.

Wrong intros....
hmmm I do that once in a blue moon...and since the moon is never blue, it is almost saying I never play wrong intros.....
well, I've boo boo on wrong keys, speed,....but wrong intro? NEVER!

haha....
I think I know why it happend. I was not in THE ZONE.
There is a level of optimal performance that turns on when mass starts and switches off at the end of mass. Except when I am not playing and then all of a sudden I have to switch gears. Which goes to prove again that I'd rather do the entire mass on my own...so that I can be in THE ZONE, or be totally switched off....and zone off. Anyway, this week is my turn to play. I'll do the whole thing. Ok Ok...people who are perfectionists are not very flexible. Well depends whether you want optimal playing or not. Anyway, my personal preference is to be optimal and not be sloppy...in fact I have a low threshold for sloppiness!!!

Chopping seats??
Hmmm I did not know that it was a problem.

The Music...
Maybe I am just more critical in this area. The Music is NOT always good. So when Mr. president says we sounded good....maybe he should run out a few more times and catch us singing different styles; speed; accompaniment etc.
Be it RED book or BREAKING BREAD...I still feel very strongly...the music must tie in with the liturgy. Must must must....no compromise here!!!

Conductors...
Aw...C is one of the best conductors we have and definitely irreplaceble. But she could do with some assistance. For the record....I really think these youths have a ladida perception of conducting. Then again, I'd better keep my big mouth shut. Er.....in the school of music, conducting is a graduate level course and not offered at the undergraduate level.

Weddings...
I still think this wedding business is a messy affair. If I have a wedding.....I'm not....so I am safe from saying it here....I will have ONE singer sing through the mic....and have an EXCELLENT musician. And I will give them each a BIG FAT ANG POW!!! But since it is not my wedding, I shall keep my big mouth shut. Did you know that you can write to archbishop on the veritas site?

Reminds me of a parent who want to see my certs....and I told her to come to my house, it is hanging on my wall! And that shut her up! I am appalled that people think musicians are school dropouts or what!

Well was the meeting productive? Maybe
Did it resolve issues? Don't think so
But we all appreciated that we were given the opportunity to AIR our thoughts before we implode!
